In recent years, Google has made it a point to show their users the top results for their mobile search queries by penalizing websites that are not responsive. This means that websites that are not mobile-friendly will not show up as high in Google search results as those that are. Michael Bayle, Head of Mobile for Amadeus recently gave tips for travel companies on what exactly they can focus on in order to optimize their mobile strategy.

1. Utilize “swipe, pinch and tap” technology. As Bayle said in his blog post, “the click is dead.” This technology will better keep consumers engaged as more and more of them turn to mobile to research, plan and book travel.

2. Pre-fill fields based off consumers’ location. This saves them the time of typing it in and lends you credibility when presenting them with information relevant to where they are located.

3. Team up with complementing travel providers. Integrating additional features offered by relevant companies can make travelers’ experience with your company smoother and more fruitful.

4. Offer items for purchase via mobile apps. Travelers use mobile apps through numerous phases of their trips. Offering extras where it’s so quick and easy to make a purchase will help drive ancillary revenue for your company.

The number of consumers using mobile devices throughout their travel experiences is growing, making these adaptations essential for increasing bookings, engagement and loyalty.
